I don't know if this question is allowed or not, but I'm going to try:

Anyone been on a diet, and been successful with losing weight? I'm looking to lose weight but also maintain more healthy eating habits. I'm a freshman in college, living in the dorms, if that helps.

Thank you!

i am on the yasmin birth control pill. i have been for about two years now. last month i start my pills late. i usually start my period 2 days after not taking the pills. that month i was about 5 days late, which was really weird because i am so regular. i believe i got my period on a friday. i was bleeding a lot more than normal and my period last longer. i finshed my period on a tuesday, so i waited until the following sunday to start my new pack of pills. during that week of waiting to start my new pack, i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, and we contuing to have sex throughout the 3 weeks of pills taking. i have 3 more pills left for this month. anyways to the point.. this 2 weeks ive had cramps not like normal period cramps though, the cramps come and go. my breast have also been very tender.

i dont know if i should stop taking my pills and see if i get my period?
i dont know if i should go get a test? or if i could even be pregnant? ive always heard that birth control takes a few months to get out of your system?

i just need some advice.. please help =/

[ mood | curious ]

This past weekend, I was living off of a lot of non-diet coke and chocolate (I was visiting a friend away at college). Well, as the weekend went on, and especially by the time I got home, I was breaking out like crazy. I used to be affected my pop and chocolate when I was a teenager, but at 21, I usually don't break out too badly from it. Either way though, I did this weekend and I absolutely hate looking in the mirror.

I have a Christmas party for work to go to in about 2 weeks, so I'm hoping my face is back to normal.

Does anyone know any good things I could buy or any good remedies for fighting break outs?

Please help!

Pesky pimple [04 Oct 2003|09:52am]

[ mood | bored ]

Okay, I've got a question for you all. Do any of you know any good ways to get rid of breakouts? I'm 21, and although I don't breakout like a teenager would, I intent to get one or two pimples that will go away, just to be replaced with another one or two. It's horrible! I mean, I have tried a few things that have worked pretty good, but there's gotta something better out there that some of you could suggest. So, if you all know anything that has worked pretty damn good for you, let me know. Thanks!

So, i have a recommendation, everyone. I got this Tony & Tina brand eyeliner pencil that has silver sparkles in it. I LOVE it! but I couldnt' get it to work for me just right...until today. For those of you who normally wear black eyeliner, here is what I did. I lined my top lid with a thin line and then a TOUCH of the bottom outside corners with it. Then I put my liquid line only on the bottom. I'm sure the same would work if you didn't use liquid. Just had to say that it's great. There are different colors of pencil with sparkles in it including a black with gold. (Think purples, greens, blues, etc). Highly recommended...as all of the Tony and Tina products are!

If you're a fan, check out my girl Cassie's fanlisting for Tony and Tina.

I know most of you but I've never posted on here and thought I should.

I went shopping today and found some stuff on sale. Target has some cute little tank tops and little bra-let things in flowers and solids for like $2.87, and their PJ's are on sale too. Always a good thing.

At Old Navy I found a Valentines Day shirt for $8.75, and flip flops.

I just thought I'd share in case anyone feels the need for shopping. OOh socks are on sale too for .75. I bought a yellow pair with a cow on them. I'm a dork. Am patiently waiting for the Pink Flamingos to go on sale. =)

8 Super Foods Your Body Will Thank You for Eating
By Leslie Fink, MS, RD for WeightWatchers.com

Like it or not, Mom was justified when she forced you to eat your vegetables. Broccoli and Brussels sprouts give you nutrients and substances that might truly have an impact on your health. Same with crunchy peanuts, sugar-sweet berries and thirst-quenching iced tea.

If youre concentrating on eating foods that have a lot of nutrients and phytochemicals (naturally occurring plant substances that fight disease), youre hedging your bet for at least a healthier life, if not a longer one, says Barbara Gollman, MS, RD, spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. Heres her input on eight super foods to stock up on:

  • Nuts. Peanuts, almonds, pecans delicious! Eat a small amount of nuts on a regular basis, and you might reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer. Plus, theyre chock full of the antioxidant vitamin E, artery-unclogging monounsaturated fats and lots of other phytochemicals.

  • Chile peppers (zero POINTS). Capsaicin, the substance that gives chiles their heat, acts as a disease-preventing phytochemical, says Gollman.

  • Tomatoes (zero POINTS) and tomato products. The antioxidant lycopene in tomato-rich foods may help prevent prostate cancer, and might also help prevent breast cancer. Cooked tomatoes are more effective than raw ones, says Gollman. So load up on tomato paste and tomato sauces.

  • Berries. All berries are good for you, but blueberries and raspberries seem to hold top spots on the berry nutrition chart. Their anthocyanins and ellagic acid (the substances that give them their rich colors) possess potential cancer- and heart disease-preventing antioxidant properties. Plus, theyre high in fiber and vitamin C.

  • Leafy greens (zero POINTS). Folate, a much-talked-about B vitamin, does triple duty. In addition to helping fend off heart disease and possibly even cancer, its believed to prevent neural tube defects in unborn babies. So go for anything thats leafy and green. Some of Gollmans tasty suggestions: Mix steamed chard with minced garlic and fresh lemon juice, and make pesto sauce with basil and kale.

  • Quinoa. Pronounced KEEN-wah, this nutty-tasting food is unlike any other grain (although not a true grain, it is often called one). Its the only grain considered to be a complete protein, comments Gollman. If thats not enough to give it clout, consider that the sterols it contains may lower cholesterol, decreasing your risk for heart disease.

  • Yogurt. Sure, its good for your bones, but thats not all. Most yogurts contain good bacteria that help maintain proper digestive health and may help boost your immune system. Look for the words live and active cultures such as L. acidophilus and Bifidus on ingredient labels.

  • Tea (zero POINTS) Whether served iced, hot or decaffeinated, black or green tea as well as some other non-herbal teas might help prevent cancer and heart disease due to the antioxidant effects of the flavonoids and polyphenols they contain. Up your tea intake with some of Gollmans ideas: Make a tea slush with iced tea and pured fruit, or try jazzing up regular iced tea with frozen mango cubes or slices.

Good enough to eat! [19 Jan 2003|09:47pm]

[ mood | awake ]

Just thought I would mention some products that I've tried recently and really enjoyed.

For Christmas I got some bath products by Pure Spring in Honey scent. They smell so good. It comes with this "bath syrup" that's in an adorable jar shaped like a beehive. They are moderately priced (comparative to B&BWorks, maybe slightly cheaper) and smell SOOOOO good. The shower creme makes your skin so soft and just leaves it with this light honey scent. I'm in love.

Today I also bought some Herbal Essences because they were on sale. Typically I'm a die hard Pantene ProV girl, but I rotate like a good girl should to help avoid build-up. ANYHOW, they have these new Fruit fusion scents and the one for normal hair is pomegranate scented and is really really nice as well.

If you like yummy scented bath products, those are a few to try!
If you've got any favorites, drop me a comment. I'm always looking for new ones to try.

Home Remedies [05 Jan 2003|02:03pm]

[ mood | amused ]

Here are some home remedies that I thought you girls might appreciate...

Budwiser Beer rinse will condition your hair
Cool Whip will do the same when left in for 15 minutes
Mayonaise will condition your hair as well as kill lice
Vinegar will take care of dandruff
Brewed Lipton Tea will give your hair added shine
Lemon Juice will help bring out natural highlights

Pam cooking spray will dry your fingernail polish quicker
Elmers glue put on your face a left to dry will lift dead skin and blackheads when you peel it off!
Preperation H will cure puffy eyes

Brewed Lipton Tea in your bathwater will soothe a sunburn
Colgate Toothpaste will help pull stains out of clothes
To keep flowers fresh longer, add a little Clorox, or 2 bayer asprins, or just use 7up instead of water.

Disclaimer: I've never actually used any of these, so I can't claim that any of them will actually work. I do know people who've used the mayonaise in the hair and the Preperation H under their eyes and say that it works beautifully though!

Hey girls,

I don't know most of you here, so if you'd like to drop me a quick introduction in the form of a comment, that would be awesome!

My name is Amy, and I'm a 21 year old from Tacoma. I work for Head Start as a prechool teacher and go to school at Pierce College part time.

Anyhow, the community is looking great. I like the layout colors and the icon. When I heard the community was called just_us_girls, this picture popped into my head. I think it would make a great icon or banner advertisement. I know Pam is way better at making icons than I am, so I figured I'd leave that job up to her or anyone else who wants it! LOL

Anyways, see the pics HERE. They are WAY cute.
